Laryea Kingston signs a two-year deal
Laryea Kingston is excited with the opportunity to play regular football again after signing a two-year deal with Israeli Premier League side Hapoel Be'er Sheva.

Japan walk out at IWC
Japan and 20 other pro-whaling nations staged a walk-out at the International Whaling Commission(IWC), blocking a proposal to vote on a whaling sanctuary in the southern Atlantic and forcing the issue to be put off until next year.
A Japanese Fisheries Agency official said on yesterday that the walkout en masse on the final day of this year’s IWC annual meeting was likely the first of its kind, a . With less than the required majority of member nations present, the vote was not held.
After a nine-hour adjournment, the IWC decided to put off the issue for discussion at the start of next year’s meeting to be held in Panama.
Leaders meet in Turkey on Libya’s future
Western and Arab leaders are meeting today in Turkey to look for a way to oust Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi and assess how that country’s rebel leaders plan to run the country after he’s gone.

Biometric registration of voters for the 2012 general election takes off this year in Ghana
The biometric registration of voters for the 2012 general election takes off this year, following the release of GH¢50 million by the government to the Electoral Commission (EC).
The amount represents 67.5 per cent of the total budget of GH¢80 million required for the exercise.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, announced this when he presented a supplementary budget on behalf of the government to Parliament yesterday.
The minister said to advance the cause of democracy through transparent, free and fair elections, the government would support the EC to replace the voters register through a biometric registration exercise for the conduct and supervision of the 2012 elections.

Deputy general secretary involved in an accident
A deputy general secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC), George Lawson has been involved in a motor accident at Mampong in the Ashanti Region. He has since been treated and discharged.
Pakistan react to US suggestion
Pakistan has reacted angrily to the US army's top officer's suggestion that the government "sanctioned" the killing of journalist Saleem Shahzad.
Information minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Adm Mike Mullen's statement was "extremely irresponsible and regrettable."
Saying it would cause difficulties in relations between the sides and prove a setback to the war against terror.
Mr Shahzad was kidnapped near his home in Islamabad in May. His body was found two days later in Punjab province. At the time, many in the Pakistani media blamed Pakistan's powerful military intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), for the murder. The ISI has denied involvement in the case.
GNAT has expelled leaders
The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has expelled the leadership of the group calling itself the Coalition of Concerned Teachers from its fold.
GNAT said the decision became necessary due to the persistent peddling of falsehood by the coalition, which has also been calling for the removal of the leadership of GNAT and NAGRAT for what the group claimed is their poor handing of the migration of teachers onto the single spine salary structure in February.
According to a statement signed by GNAT president Paul Apanga, leadership of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers are not prepared to use the laid down rules of the organization of which they claim to be members.
GNAT has expel the 25 leaders of the concerned teachers from the organization with immediate effect.
Mr. Apanga said GNAT is in touch with the Controller and Accountant General’s Department to remove their names from the list of teachers who pay their dues to GNAT.

Motorbikes banned in Northern nigeria
Motorbikes have been banned from the northern Nigerian city of Maiduguri to prevent drive-by attacks by the radical Islamist sect, Boko Haram.
The group's trademark has been to use gunmen on motorbikes to assassinate security officers and politicians.Officials said no-one would be able to ride motorbikes at any time in the city, Boko Haram's stronghold.
At least 40 people have been killed in Maiduguri, the main city in Borno state, in the past two weeks in attacks blamed on the group.Boko Haram is fighting for Islamic rule and has rejected talks with the government.
Last month, the group said it had carried out an attack on the headquarters of the Nigerian police in the capital, Abuja, which killed at least six people.
South Sudan becomes the newest nation his year
South Sudan is counting down the hours until it becomes the world's newest nation on Saturday 9 July.
More than 99% of southerners voted to split from the north of Sudan in a referendum in January.
Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir and some dignitaries from around the world will be attending the celebrations in the southern capital, Juba.
The poll was agreed as part of the 2005 deal to end the two-decade civil war in which some 1.5 million people died.
The new country of South Sudan will be rich in oil, but it will be one of the least developed countries in the world following the long conflict.
